The change we need is in our hands, not in our fate!
The change we need is in our hands, not in our fate. Dreaming big is always a right, a wish and a choice for anyone who wants to strive for it. It does not matter if it is a small series of steps. All it needs is a beginning – a starting point. In my opinion, this can come from devotion and focus towards a goal, such as proposing innovative and revolutionary ideas in order to achieve the optimum. An attractive idea that can ignite a spark in your mind and build courage to go beyond limits. This ultimately helps in strengthening individuals to succeed as a society.
I have always been proactive in voluntary work and have participated in several international events in Finland. This has not only helped me in improving my event management and coordination skills, but has also assisted me in growing my social and professional network within multi-cultural and multi-skilled circles. This participation has always motivated me to share my experiences in a way that would motivate others to do the same. It is important to understand that it is not always about grooming your personal growth, but also about shining in the darkness for those who are looking for a sparkle – a twinkle. Yes, Twinkle 2015’s mission has really motivated me to be part of something. I have always aspired for a platform to deliver my best, and I have for a long time wanted to organise an event like Twinkle in the city where I started my international career.
I first met the Twinkle team in September this year, and immediately decided to be part of this brilliant team. I have always felt like a valued and important part of this team, comprised of extremely talented individuals from different cultures – I can see the flicker of a twinkle in their eyes all the time.
During the Twinkle event I am in charge of Survey Design (along with Imaneh Ameli) as well as being part of the Twinkle Matchmaking team. I firmly believe that both these tasks are interesting since they require one-on-one interaction with the participants. Matchmaking is one of the most important and effective elements – primarily because it helps in growing one’s professional network. It is important to understand that better and bigger networks lead to improved connections, and a connection is the first step towards building a strong business relationship. The world has moved ahead of mere connections, what matters more are relationships or, in other words, “partnerships”. This may include partnerships with young talents as well as with existing big wigs of industry. My responsibility is to help you find a suitable business match, so I would recommend all the fresh and experienced talents to try their best to stand out. You should know how to sell yourself, know your skills and qualities, and prepare a one minute pitch. Think of it as if you are going on an interview call but not sure who the interviewer is.
I see Twinkle as a spark of hope, struggle, dream and innovation. There is a flicker of enthusiasm and brilliance. I feel proud to be part of this team, and I am eagerly waiting for the event to kick off in December. I am looking forward to meeting both local and international speakers, investors, talented students, multinational companies and all the attendees.
Yes, I do believe that this is the time for Tampere to twinkle with all the talented stars from across the globe – and bring much needed change to make this city the capital of global success.
